Timekeeping

Times will be measured exclusively using the ChampionChip. The ChampionChip is a plastic transponder that is attached to your running shoe and registers your personal time. The ChampionChip is used to keep times at about half of all running events in Germany and at all of the large marathons throughout the world.

The following options may be used:

  1. Chip owners may enter their personal chip numbers on the registration form (a combination of 7 numbers and letters).
  2. Chips may be purchased. Please check the appropriate field on the registration form. The price of the ChampionChip (31 euros) will be deducted from your account before the event, together with the registration fee. You will receive the chip in the mail within 14 days, so that you can also use it for further events. Anyone registering later than 30 days before the event will receive the chip with his/her registration materials.
  3. Chips may be leased with the option to purchase. You may rent the chip and return it undamaged within 2 hours after the end of the event. A rental fee of 6 euros will be charged upon registration.
You may also simply opt to keep the chip after the event. By registering with the rental option, you have also signed a contract to purchase after the end of the rental period, and after the event your account or credit card will be debited 25 euros, the difference between the rental fee (6 euros) and the cost of purchase (31 euros). This new procedure will end the previous practice of returning the chip deposit on race day. Please fasten the chip to your shoelaces (not with anything metal) – otherwise your time will not be measured.
Time Limit
Skaters progressing at a tempo that would not allow them to finish under 2:30 hours will be pulled from the race and brought by bus to the finish.
Starting Blocks

To insure that the pre-race and starting phases can be carried out safely, all participants will be divided into starting blocks according to their best times (which must be submitted). By starting the blocks one after another, each participant will have optimal individual conditions for starting. Participants with a personal best under 1:30 must include a copy of the certificate with their time (only from officially measured courses). The organiser reserves the right to accept or not accept a course.

Race Documents
The race numbers will be issued at the BERLIN VITAL Fall Expo from September 17 – 19, 2009 upon presentation of the registration confirmation. Race number distribution on race day is only possible until noon at the BERLIN VITAL Expo.

If you own a ChampionChip, please bring it with you to be registered/tested.

Each participant will also receive a clothing bag and a drinking bottle.

Everyone who ordered extra items (adidas shirts, pasta lounge, city tour) will have the respective removable coupons attached to their race numbers.

The adidas shirts and the pasta lounge coupons must be redeemed during the BERLIN VITAL expo. It will not be possible at a later time.
Please note

Fair sportsman-like behaviour is expected of all participants. Please keep to the marked route. The organizer will disqualify participants in the following cases: Leaving the course, missing several intermediate times, alteration of the race number. The race number must be worn on the chesta

Awards

All participants will receive a medal at the finish line (until the finish is closed). The stand for the medal engraving will be located near the preliminary certificates in the INLINE VILLAGE. Participants who prepaid for the engraving will have a mark on their race numbers. The engraving must take place on race day.
Preliminary certificates will also be available at the finish and via Internet. In early December, a personal certificate with the time and placing, as well as a result list will be automatically sent by mail.
