Timekeeping

Times will be measured using the ChampionChip. The ChampionChip is a plastic transponder attached to your shoe, which calculates your personal time. Times are kept using the ChampionChip at 60 % of all races in Germany and at all of the major marathon races throughout the world. You have the following options:
a) Chip owners can record their chip numbers on their registration form (7-digit letter/number code).
b) Chip purchase: Please check the appropriate box on your registration form. The purchase price of 31 euro will be debited from your account before the event along with your registration fee. You will then receive the chip in the mail two weeks after registering, so that you will have it for other events, as well. For those registering less than 30 days before the event, the chip will be included with the race number at the expo.
c) Chip rental with an option to buy: You can rent the chip and return it undamaged to the chip return area within two hours after the end of the event. The rental fee of 6 euro will be charged along with your registration fee. You can also simply decide to keep the chip after the event, as by registering you have made a sales contract upon the conclusion of the rental period, and after the event the organiser will debit the difference of the purchase price (31 euro) and the rental fee (6 euro) from your account – 25 euro.
Thus, there will no longer be deposit payments on the day of the event. Please be sure to fasten the chip securely on your shoe laces (not using any metal), or no timekeeping will be possible.

Time Limit

The time limit for runners and power walkers is 3:15 houres (2:15 p.m.). If the tempo you are running indicates that the half marathon distance could not be finished in that time, you will be removed from the race and brought to the finish by bus.
