Helmets must be worn and protective clothing is recommended. The race will start regardless of the weather.

The Vattenfall Berlin Half Marathon is organised according to the IWB regulations of the German Athletic Association (DLV) and the IAAF under the supervision of the Roller Skating and Inline Association (DRIVE).
All skaters born in 1992 and earlier are eligible. The only skates allowed are inline skates and classical roller skates.

You can either register online here or by mail with the attached form, fully completed and signed. Please write clearly!

Registration by telephone, fax, or email is not possible! Payment may be made by direct debit or credit card. Any costs incurred due to incorrect payment information will be charged to the entrant. Registrations will be considered on a first-come-firstserved basis. A legal guardian must sign the application forms of minors. DLV registration forms cannot be accepted.

Registered participants who fail to participate are only entitled to a refund of the fee according to § 3 of the Terms of Participation. It is not permitted to trade or pass on your race number to anyone else.

The confirmation of registration will automatically be sent out by mail in March 2008, regardless of when the registration was submitted. Limit to participation: 2500.

March 14, 2008 (unless the upper limit has already been reached.) Registration forms postmarked on or after March 14, 2008 will not be accepted. Online registration will be closed before the limit has been reached.

Late registration will only take place from April 03 to April 05, 2008 at the BERLIN VITAL Spring Expo, if the limit has not been reached. Late registration on race day is not possible!

Participants of the half marathon may purchase an adidas breathable shirt (printed with the event logo) in lieu of the traditional cotton t-shirt for 20.00 euro. The breathable shirt must be ordered by February 22, 2008!

Due to road construction work the start and finish area of the race are moved. The starting line is located at Schlossbrücke near Berliner Dom at the beginning of the boulevard Unter den Linden.

The new finish line is located on Spandauer Strasse near the Berlin city hall (Rotes Rathaus).

There will be changing rooms and showers in tents in the finish area.

Times will be measured exclusively using the ChampionChip. The ChampionChip is a plastic transponder that is attached to your running shoe and registers your personal time. The ChampionChip is used to keep times at about half of all running events in Germany and at all of the large marathons throughout the world.

Please be sure to fasten the chip securely on your shoe laces (not using any metal), or no timekeeping will be possible.

Skaters who are skating at a speed that will not allow them to finish the half marathon under 2 hours will be pulled from the race and brought to the finish by bus.

The participants will be divided into starting blocks according to their personal best times. It is necessary to submit your current best time for placement in the starting blocks. (Only officially measured courses are valid.)

This public expo presents the newest trends and products from the areas of lifestyle, fitness, wellness, health, and nutrition. Experts will inform you on the most diverse topics, and you can also pick up your race materials here.

Each participant of the 28th Vattenfall BERLIN HALF MARATHON plus 4 accompanying persons each, as well as children under the ages of 18, have free entrance.

You can visit the pasta lounge at the BERLIN VITAL Expo during opening hours from Thursday to Saturday in Hall 20. If you pre-ordered your pasta portion, you will have a coupon attached to your race number, which you can redeem for your pasta. The pasta can of course also be purchased directly.

The race numbers will be issued at the BERLIN VITAL Spring Expo from April 03 – 05, 2008, upon presentation of your confirmation of registration.
Please bring your chip with you to be tested. For those unable to register at the expo, the race numbers can also be picked up on race day, Sunday, April 06, 2008 in the starting area. The organiser emphasizes that there could be long lines at this last minute race number distribution.
Please try to pick up your materials on one of the three prior days at the expo! Both the pre-ordered adidas breathable shirts and the pasta will be distributed at the BERLIN VITAL Expo. The coupons for both will be attached to your race number, if pre-ordered. All participants who did not order the breathable adidas t-shirt will receive the official cotton event shirt.

Fair sportsman-like behaviour is expected of all participants. Please keep to the marked route. Failure to do so will result in disqualification. The race number must be worn on the chest. Any alterations to the race number will lead to disqualification.

All participants will receive a medal at the finish line (until 1:45 p.m.). Preliminary certificates can be picked up in the finish area approx. 45 min. after finishing or they can be acquired by evening online. A personal certificate with the time and placing, as well as a result list will be sent by mail automatically. The winners in each age category can enter for free at the Half Marathon in 2009.

• in the FINISH area: show stage with music / entertainment /gastronomy
• along the course: numerous samba bands

4 refreshment points will be set up on the course; water, tea, and fruits will be available at the finish.

There will be an After Run Party in an exclusive location on the evening of the event. Sport enthusiasts and dancers will meet again here to celebrate into the morning hours. You will receive a ticket for the party with your race materials.

The entire course will be monitored and supervised by a medical team. The doctors on duty have the right and responsibility to remove any runners with signs of injuries or overexertion from the race.
